I offer a safe counselling space that provides non-judgmental support and empowerment to find ways to improve your mental health and wellbeing, allowing you to work through the issues you may be facing in an empathic, supported way.
I provide short-term and long-term counselling in-person or via telephone, with sessions taking place from my own private, relaxing counselling room in central Bury, Greater Manchester.
My core training is in Person-Centred Counselling, having achieved my Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy in 2016. Shortly afterwards, I went on to complete training in CBT-I (CBT for Insomnia), and Solution-Focused Therapy.
I continued training and completed a Level 5 in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which has become a fundamental part of my current practice, integrating CBT in a person-centred way, or being able to work with Exposure Therapy and more behavioural approaches when needed with clients.
In addition, I have completed Mindfulness training, and also have an Honours Degree in English Studies and Creative Writing.
I develop some of my own worksheets and resources which I often use with clients, and draw upon various useful resources with clients when appropriate such as recommended reading, workbooks and sleep diaries.
Coming soon: Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy for phobias. I am in the process of setting up this exciting approach within my practice, please get in touch for more information or to be added to the waiting list.

I am a Person-Centred counsellor with 9+ years of experience counselling adults and young people experiencing various issues including anxiety, stress, burnout, low mood, depression, sleep disorders, relationship issues, and historical abuse. I qualified as a counsellor in 2016 with a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy from The University of Strathclyde, and have since completed training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), CBT for insomnia (CBT-i), Solution-Focused Therapy and Mindfulness.
I have experience providing counselling in various settings, having worked in private practice, educational (schools & colleges), third sector (charities) and Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs). I currently work full-time in my private practice, accepting referrals from various providers including direct self-referrals, GP referrals and I am affiliated with insurance providers (eg. Aviva, Vitality) and various EAPs.
During my 7 years' experience working with EAPs I have supported employees from various sectors (including the Police, NHS Staff, Doctors, Teachers, Retail Staff, Train Drivers, Civil Service, Probation Service, Army, Government, Prison Staff, Hospitality, Social Workers). As a result, I have an in-depth understanding of the various challenges and concerns that people working in specific industries may face.

I am flexible in my approach, offering weekday daytime and evening appointments, generally weekly or fortnightly, in-person or via telephone. I am able to plan around clients’ work or family commitments.
I am dedicated to continuing professional development through additional training and continuous learning. I encourage advanced self-care, advocate for men’s mental health, and interested in the positive impact of creativity, music and writing on supporting wellbeing.
I offer creative wellbeing workshops for small groups, including the Creative Writing for Wellbeing Workshop series which helps people find creative tools to manage their mental health and wellbeing. I also offer Sleep Workshops and group support. One-to-one creative writing sessions and one-off sleep support sessions are also available.
I recognise the impact that sleep issues and sleep disorders can have on mental health and quality of life. I prioritise supporting good sleep health as part of my work with clients, and I am a member of the British Sleep Society (BSS). Being professionally and personally aware of the impact of sleep conditions on wellbeing, and vice versa, I set up the Sleep Support Projectwith the ethos that sleep needs to be prioritised as a significant part of supporting mental health and wellbeing, and that people living with long-term sleep disorders deserve tailored, informed emotional support. I am trained in CBT for Insomnia, and work with personalised sleep support plans for adults experiencing sleep disruption.
Overall, I would say that an important part of my work is being authentic, forging genuine connection. I offer clients support that is tailored to their individual needs and goals. I aim to help clients towards feeling empowered to deal with the issues they face, and offer a space for people to find their courage again.
As a Registered Member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy), and an Accredited Member of the NCPS (National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society), I uphold strict ethical and professional guidelines, and endeavour to maintain the highest professional standards in my practice. In my counselling, and with diary management, clinical note-taking procedures, confidentiality, risk & safeguarding, and intake assessments, you can be reassured that these standards are part of my work.
I am LGBTQA+ friendly, and have experience working with ADHD, neurodiversity and autism.
I always try to make sure that affordability is not a factor with the counselling I offer, so I have a sliding scale with clients offering concessionary rates to students, people on low incomes, and those who are struggling financially. Discounts are available for advance block-bookings of sessions, and funded counselling options may be available via your EAP or insurance provider.
Accessibility should not hinder therapy, so I endeavour to ensure all my resources are available in various formats and that a counselling room can be used for people who struggle with stairs.
Guide dogs and emotional support animals are all welcome.
